PRAISE NEWS

Edition 81 - JUNE 2026

Enjoy the photos and read ahead.

Reading Month is well underway!

June marks Reading Month for Children of the Light. This year, the reading challenge is also taking place at our centre in Northern Ghana. The Awards Ceremony will take place in July. The aim of this reading month is for every child who participates to advance by a reading level.

What we did for World Bee Day!

We gathered and scattered flower seeds. We had the children create beautiful save-the-bee posters, and they also learned about the life cycle and interesting facts about bees. Did you know that bees visit about 2 million flowers to make one jar of honey, and 1/3 of our food crops depend on bee pollination?

Creative Lessons!

There are always many activities happening at both centers, and on one occasion, the children, with the help of their teacher, Patience Akunduo, made a volcano. Once the volcano was complete, they poured in the mixture to cause the eruption
He who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke. Psalm 104:32

The Joy of the Harvest!

As everything grows, we are blessed daily with a variety of harvests, from plantains, starfruit, and bananas to soursop, cayenne pepper, and more. It is all such a blessing.
He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate - bringing forth food from the earth. Psalm 104:14

Look what's ahead!

After all this reading, we will conclude with an Awards Ceremony on Friday, 3 July, at our centre in Northern Ghana and on Saturday, 4 July, at our centre in the Eastern Region. The children will enjoy a day of food, fun, and prizes.

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. Proverbs 14:23

Message from Jeanette!

We have come to the end of another edition of PRAISE NEWS. We still have a few weeks to go in the month of reading. It has been off to a great start, with children taking every opportunity to read. We are so grateful to everyone who supports our work. You help make what we do possible. May God bless you for your kindness; may all you have sacrificed return to you tenfold. AMEN!
With all that is happening in the world, I will end with the words that Jesus spoke found in Matthew 25:35-40
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Then the righteous will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.'
One may ask, 'If Jesus were to come back today, who would he stand with?' Let us continue to pray for justice and righteousness for the oppressed, starting with Palestine.
But let let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
